TRAUDT AERIAL SERVICE

"Serving Agriculture Through Aerial Application"

EYE IN THE SKY:
May 20, 2008
We are starting to get some Cutworm activity in some of the corn fields. Keep an eye out for feeding especially in lower areas and fields that may have had some winter annual weeds or grassy areas, also the fields that were in wheat or soybeans last year. The threshold for determining if a treatment is needed is when 3-5% of the plants are damaged with cutting observed. Another insect to watch for now is Alfalfa Weevils in the alfalfa. Weevils are a pale green with a white stripe down the back approximately 1/16 inch in length and light yellow when they hatch. When full grown they reach 5/16 inch in length, check out the Pest Library on the home page for proper identification. We would expect the rootworm hatch to occur around the first part of June so we will keep you informed when the time comes. The flag leaf is now out on most of the wheat so it is time to be putting on a fungicide application. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to give us a call. We appreciate your business in the past and look forward to serving your aerial application needs this season.
